Fonts and their appearance have changed drastically in the last decade and there have been new fonts which have made quite an impression.
If you think typography is all about selecting the font that appearsattractive, you are very mistaken. The main purpose of typography is readability. This does not mean that it should not look visually appealing, but its main goal is to stand before the typographer to make sure that the type is readable. The layout and look of the website are complemented by the choice of colours and fonts and the way the content is arranged on the page to evoke certain emotions to the visitors. Just a quick glance of the page is enough to either grab your audience’s attention or drive them away.

Good content is not enough for building a great website. It should be well presented, too. The solution to that task is typography. Every element can have its impact on the way your content is perceived; starting from the size and font of the text all the way to its alignment and arrangement on your pages and the colours you choose. Suitabletypography will emphasize on the most important parts of your content and draw the readers’ attention to them.It will also define the entire structure and flow of your website.
You cannot deny the fact that typography can influence the perception of your website’s visitors and engaging them with your web pages. It is essential that designers know and understand the different principles of typography that create a pleasing design, in order to portray the vision and mood of the website they are designing.

The main purpose of your font selection or typeface is to convey the character or purpose of your website and content. Once you know the main point you would like to convey to your readers you can then choose or design a typeface that reflects the purpose of your content.

Potential clients will visit your website to read the content offered to them. Whether it is an article, a product review, or an explanation of the hottest new app.The more important your content is, the larger the font-size should be. You should not be trying to squeeze 500 words into a company tagline. Nevertheless, you should not be sizing your ‘10-word’ tagline in size 14px either.

Web fonts can help you define the hierarchy of your content in two ways: size and colour. The larger the font is, the more attractive it will be. This means your viewers read your information from most important to least important just by using font sizes. Therefore, Typography can either reinforce the uniformity of your site, or expose its lack of it.
